srcasm, after a quick look at Jott and the techcrunch review I definitely think it's worth checking out, but I'm sold on the Yap hype and think it's voice recognition capabilities appear to be really amazing.

tyfn, thanks for the link I will definitely check out that conference. As for Facebook, not much I can add to that convo since I was definitely one of the last to start using it. I was resolved not to create another profile as I had been using MySpace for years and didn't want to start all over, but I broke down about month ago.

Cool that you are interested in Social media. So am I. It you hear about any cool apps/betas I should try, let me know. Would love to hear your opinion about Facebook today vs. 1 year ago or 2 years ago (if you were on it then). I liked it when it was student-only although I value the NewsFeed information I gather from my social media/emerging tech friends in the city.

Don't know if you are into conferences, but you may want to look at Northern Voice. I submitted a speaker proposal earlier in the week. I have attended the last 2 years and it is one of my favourite meetups of the year.
